During East Campus Discovery Days, University of Nebraska-Lincoln Libraries invited visitors to the newly renovated Dinsdale Family Learning Commons and asked them to share their COVID-19 experiences by making videos in the one-button studio. In this video, Samatha and Jesse explain their creative solution to the wedding and event restrictions for their April 2020 ceremony.

Samatha: Hi. Okay, so our pandemic recollection is the fact that we actually got married during the pandemic and at the time, it was in April of 2020 and so on April 18th was our wedding date and we got actually married in the Wyuka Cemetery out at the chapel there.
At the time, the governor had come on and said that we were cutting it down to no more than 10 people in an event at all and of course that's including us and the minister and the photographer and the person who's opening the chapel and we just couldn't cut it down to 10 people 'cause there was already five people spoken for and then our witnesses, of course, so seven, but what we did instead . . . if you wanna tell part of this.
Jesse: Yeah, so we ended up doing a drive-in wedding, where people call into like a conference call number and we had microphones on us and everybody could hear from their cars in the parking lot and could participate with our wedding that way and that's kind of our loophole we used to get around the 10 people, and we ended up with around 14 people there so.
Samatha: Who were in their cars safely and securely quarantined from each other and everybody was just on their phone listening into this conference call using a free conference call app, and we did the ceremony on the steps of the chapel so that they could see from the different parking lots in Wyuka but yeah, that's, that's pretty much the biggest part of our story is we had a drive-in wedding. Thank you.
